The Thirteenth Inspiration
Can the Ordinary Be Extraordinary?
Thank you for visiting The Forest of Inspiration.
I hope the lessons I am learning along the way can offer you a little encouragement in your own life.
Early this morning, I woke up and saw that it was 3:00 a.m. I leaned back in bed, closed my eyes, and spent a few quiet moments in reflection. A friend came strongly to mind, and I began writing what felt like a letter to God.
A Letter to God
Why did it take me so long to realize that ordinary things are not truly ordinary?
I took so much for granted simply because it was familiar. While searching for something new or special, I often failed to recognize the value of what was already part of my life.
Why was I always looking for something special?
Perhaps I wanted an escape whenever the repetition of daily life began to feel dull. I gave greater meaning to the unusual while overlooking the quiet gifts that were with me every day.
Why do I now feel the need to repent before God?
Because I treated those ordinary gifts too casually. I am beginning to understand that God often gives us extraordinary gifts in very ordinary forms.
Before more time passes, I want to learn to recognize their value and care for them with gratitude.
The friend who came to mind suffered a stroke and has lost much of the use of one arm and one leg. Even now, through pain and discouragement, my friend continues treatment and works to stand and walk again.
It is difficult to watch someone close to me suffer. Seeing my friend work so hard to regain what once came naturally brought me to tears.
Through my friend, I realized that walking freely on two healthy legs may seem ordinary, but it is never something to take for granted.
From now on, I want to practice seeing the extraordinary within the ordinary—and treating it with the gratitude it deserves. 🌿❤️
